Backup

The configuration file contains all the settings that customize the operation of the controller. You can save and restore the configuration file manually or automatically.

Before you install new software, you should always make a backup of your current configuration.

Configuration information is saved in the backup file as follows:

  • Certificates and private keys: Certificates and private keys are encrypted, with a default key that is identical on all controllers.

  • Administrator username/password: This information is not saved in the backup configuration file. This means that if you restore a configuration file, the current administrator username and password on the controller is not overwritten.

  • All other configuration information: All other configuration information is saved as plain text, allowing the settings to be viewed with a standard text editor.
