Troubleshooting cloud management network

TIP: For additional troubleshooting information, enable console access on your Foundation base appliance using the CLI and then find the following logs. To enable access, see Basic troubleshooting techniques and read the Enable console access recommendation.

  • deployer.conf

  • deploy.log

  • /etc/pavmms/deployer.conf

  • /ci/logs/ciDebug.01.log

  • /ci/logs/jetty-PulsarAVMManager/server.log


Symptom Possible cause and recommendation

You see Unable to apply cloud network settings

The ESX datastore is full and there is no room to create a new virtual machine

  1. Log in to vCenter Server and check the space available in the datastore.

  2. Move all templates and virtual machines that are not part of CloudSystem out of the datastore.

  3. Switch to the CloudSystem Console. Make sure the Help pane is displayed along the right side of the screen. If it is not visible, click the help icon, then the arrow to reveal the panel.

  4. Click Edit Cloud Networking and re-enter the Cloud Management Network information.

KVM management hypervisor or vCenter Server host name is not registered with the DNS server used by the Foundation base appliance

  1. Log in to the DNS server registered with the Foundation base appliance.

  2. Register the KVM management hypervisor host name in the DNS server.

  3. Register the vCenter Server host name in the DNS server.

  4. Switch to the CloudSystem Console. Make sure the Help pane is displayed on the right side of the screen. If it is not visible, click the help icon, then the arrow to reveal the panel.

  5. In Recommended actions, select Edit Cloud Networking and re-enter the Cloud Management Network information.

KVM management hypervisor directory /CloudSystem/images is full

  1. Log in to the management hypervisor.

  2. Check the space available in the images directory.

  3. Clean out unnecessary images.

  4. Move the images to a larger directory and rename it with the original images directory name.

  5. Switch to the CloudSystem Console. Make sure the Help pane is displayed on the right side of the screen. If it is not visible, click the help icon, then click the arrow to reveal the panel.

  6. In Recommended actions, select Edit Cloud Networking and re-enter the Cloud Management Network information.
