Force use of PXE or PXE-less booting

The boot step used in most OS Build Plans automatically detects the type of server being deployed. By default, if you are using ProLiant Gen8 servers or later, they are booted PXE-less, using the embedded Intelligent Provisioning service OSs. Older G6 or G7 servers are booted using PXE, because these servers do not support Intelligent Provisioning.

If you want to override this default behavior, you can specify parameters to the boot step that forces a target server to boot using a particular method. For a complete list of parameters supported by the boot step, see the Insight Control Server Provisioning Build Plans Reference Guide.

The most common use for this feature is to force a Gen8 or newer server to boot using PXE instead of Intelligent Provisioning. To do this, add the following parameter to all the boot steps in your Build Plans:

--method=network --force
