Combine multiple Build Plans to perform many tasks at once

The HP provided Build Plans are samples that typically perform a single function like install an OS or update firmware. There may be times you want to perform multiple functions at one time, like preparing a system for installation, running the installation, and then installing an SPP. If you need to perform multiple functions like this, you have two options:

  • Select multiple Build Plans at run time. The Run OS Build Plan screen allows selecting multiple Build Plans to run in succession. Select as many as you want and adjust the order. See Run a set of Build Plans together for more information.

  • Combine Build Plan steps from multiple Build Plans into one large Build Plan. Selecting multiple Build Plans cannot be saved and used again, so if you need to repeat the same series of Build Plans over and over, you will want to create a new build which basically contains the steps of all the Build Plans you want to combine in the order you want them to run. HP has provided some sample Build Plans that combine three existing Build Plans into one as an example. They are listed as "ProLiant COMBO" in the UI. Use these as a guide when combining other Build Plans. See the Insight Control Server Provisioning Build Plans Reference Guide for more information.
