OS Build Plans screen details

The OS Build Plan Overview screen displays information associated with the Build Plan selected in the master pane list of build plans.

This screen is a read-only view.

The Build Plans provided by Insight Control server provisioning are read only, so you may not edit those Build Plans. Instead, save the Build Plan to a new name by selecting ActionsSave as from the OS Build Plans screens and then edit that copy .To edit the copy, select or select ActionsEdit.

Information displayed for OS Build Plans

The OS Build Plans Overview screen shows general information, OS Build Plans steps, a history of Build Plan actions, and custom attributes associated with the Build Plan. To view more details on the Build Plan select General from the View menu or select General > in the Overview screen. To view detailed information on the steps for a particular Build Plan, select Steps from the view menu or select Steps> in the Overview screen.To view a full page history of actions on a particular Build plan, select History from the view menu or select History> in the Overview screen.

Description:

Optional customer-provided text that is a short, meaningful synopsis of what this OS Build Plan does. HP-provided Build Plans include a description that is read-only.

Data type:

Character strings.

The Description has a maximum length of 500 characters.

Last modified

Description:

Date and time when the OS Build Plan was last changed.

Default value:

If the Build Plan has never been modified since it was created, the Last modified date and time will be the same as the Created date and time.

Created

Date and time when the Build Plan was first saved.

Type

Describes the type of action being performed by the Build Plan. If an operating system is being deployed, the value will be OS — <operating system type>.

This field does not usually affect the operation of the Build Plan, but in some cases it is used by other HP software products that integrate with Insight Control server provisioning.

NOTE: At this time, you can only select one item from the Type list. If your Build Plan performs multiple functions, choose the Type that is most relevant to the product that will be consuming the information.

Steps
Step

This Build Plan will execute the steps in the order shown, beginning with step 1.

Name

Name of the specific resource used in this step. For example, if the step is a script, this is the script name.

Steps details: To view detailed information on the step, select Steps from the view menu or select Steps>. The Steps details screen shows the following additional information.
Parameters

Additional parameters that affect the operation of the step. If it's a script, these are passed to the script. To edit parameters, select ActionsEdit.

Type

For scripts this could be OGFS, Python, Unix, Windows .BAT, Windows VBScript, Windows .PS1, etc. See About scripts for additional information.

For packages, this is Install ZIP.

For configuration files, this is Config File.

History
Date

Date and time the Action occurred.

Action

Description:

Describes what happened with the Build Plan.

Custom Attributes
Name

Description:

Name of the name/value custom attribute pair associated with this specific Build Plan.

Value

This is the value of the name/value custom attribute pair associated with this Build Plan. The value is not initially shown, but can be displayed by expanding the entry.
