About volume template consistency

When creating or editing a volume template, you can lock certain fields to prevent those values from being edited in any volume created from the template going forward. HPE OneView compares locked values to associated volume values for consistency.

An inconsistent volume -- a volume for which the values on the volume do not match the locked values in the volume template -- is displayed on the Volume consistency graph on the Volume Templates Overview screen.

An inconsistent volume is not necessarily in an error state. This can occur if the values in the volume were set before the values in the associated volume template are locked, or if the template is otherwise changed after the volume is created. In both cases, you might want to continue to use those values even though they now differ from the original volume template used to create the volume.

Bringing an inconsistent volume into a consistent state

To align the values in an inconsistent volume with those in the associated template, edit the inconsistent values in the volume to make them consistent with the values in the volume template. Edits of unlocked values are not restricted. However, edits that do not match the locked values in the associated volume template are not accepted.

In some cases, due to volume property interdependencies and history, an inconsistency cannot be resolved by changing the volume properties, but can be resolved by changing the volume template instead.
