Create or edit volume

Volume Name

The name of the storage volume.

Description

A description of the volume (optional).

Scope

Controls the initial assignment of the created resource to scopes.

Users with create permissions that are restricted by scope must assign resources to one or more restrictive scopes to be able to manage a resource.

Users with create permissions that are not restricted by scope are not required to assign resources to a scope to be able to manage a resource. Users with no scope restrictions can assign any resource to any scope.

Volume template

The template you want to use to create the volume or None if you do not want to use a template.

Storage pool

The storage pool in which to create the volume.

Capacity

The capacity for the volume. Minimum and maximum volume size is dependent on the storage system, see the storage system documentation for information on volume size.

Sharing
Sharing setting for the volume:
Private

The volume can be used by only one server profile. Can be used to boot from SAN.

Shared

The volume can be used by more than one server profile.

Provisioning
Provisioning type for the volume:
  • Full

  • Thin

    Enable deduplication

    You can enable deduplication on volumes that are thin provisioned and meet the storage system requirements.

    Enable compression

    You can enable compression on volumes that are thin provisioned and meet the storage system requirements.

Snapshot storage pool (StoreServ volumes)

The storage pool from which to provision storage space for snapshots of the storage volume.

Data protection level (StoreVirtual volumes)

The network RAID level of the storage volume.

Permit Adaptive Optimization (StoreVirtual volumes)

Whether or not Adaptive Optimization is enabled on the storage volume.
