About appliance SNMP settings

Appliance SNMP settings (Settings > SNMP) enable you to:
  • Configure SNMPv3/SNMPv1-based trap forwarding for traps and alerts originating from enclosures, which includes the Onboard Administrator (OA) and servers (iLO)

  • Set the read community string to monitor ProLiant Gen6 and Gen7 servers, which support only SNMPv1. No SNMP settings are necessary for monitoring Gen8, Gen9 and Gen10 servers.
NOTE:

To configure SNMP trap forwarding for network devices (interconnects and switches), use the Logical interconnects > SNMP view settings.

HPE OneView can be used as a proxy to forward device traps from servers and enclosures (OA) to other SNMP-enabled applications on the network. HPE OneView can forward traps, as SNMPv3 or SNMPv1 traps, to configured destinations.

Appliance SNMP settings allow you to add destinations to which the traps need to be forwarded. You can configure each destination as an SNMPv1 or SNMPv3 destination, depending on whether the traps are sent in SNMPv1 or SNMPv3 formats.

Additionally, if you have Gen6 or Gen7 servers being monitored by HPE OneView in your environment, you can configure the read community string that HPE OneView uses for monitoring these servers with SNMPv1.

Following is the list of MIBs that must be installed in order to receive and interpret the device traps forwarded by HPE OneView.

NOTE:

The Synergy Frame Link Modules (FLM) sends https based alert events to HPE OneView. These alerts are converted to HPE OneView alerts which are in turn converted to SNMP traps as defined in the cpqoneview.mib. These SNMP traps are then forwarded to the configured destination addresses.

The MIBs are released as part of the HPE Systems Insight Manager - MIB Kit at http://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc.
