About HPE Composable Fabric Manager consistency checking

HPE OneView checks for the consistency between HPE OneView network sets and HPE Composable Fabric Manager VLAN groups. HPE OneView also checks for the consistency of server access port configuration between HPE OneView and Composable Fabric Manager. The consistency check is triggered when you refresh the composable fabric or the logical switch or when changes are made in the Composable Fabric Manager.

For server access ports with or without profiles, the following values are checked for consistency:
  • Port configuration speed

  • Enable/disable state

  • Native VLAN setting

  • VLAN groups

An alert is raised on the fabric resource when the HPE OneView VLAN group and access port configuration are not present in the Composable Fabric Manager. You can view the report on the Consistency Report section of the Fabrics screen. This report lists the inconsistencies found in the fabric and rack connectivity modules during the check.

The consistency check is performed between HPE OneView and Composable Fabric Manager to verify:
  • The network sets in HPE OneView and the HPE OneView managed VLAN groups in the Composable Fabric Manager contain the same tagged VLANs as in the corresponding network set.

  • The server access port configurations of the rack connectivity modules and the switches in the Composable Fabric Manager are consistent as defined by the server profile. The VLANs defined in the server profile are verified against the VLANs defined on the server access ports in the Composable Fabric Manager.

    NOTE:

    If there is no profile associated for the server access port, the consistency check ensures that the port has no VLANs configured.

Reapply Configuration

You can use the Reapply Configuration action on the fabric resource to resolve any detected inconsistencies. The reapply configuration modifies the Composable Fabric Manager VLAN group definitions and access port configuration as specified in HPE OneView and clears the inconsistency alerts. The reapply configuration also updates the VLAN groups to be consistent with the HPE OneView network sets.

Refresh

A logical switch refresh re-evaluates the consistency of member switches. A fabric refresh re-evaluates the consistency of the fabric and each member switch. A consistency report between HPE OneView and Composable Fabric Manager can be generated or updated through a refresh action on the fabric or logical switch.

A fabric or switch refresh action is initiated by Composable Fabric Manager when:
  • An HPE OneView managed VLAN group is modified using the Composable Fabric Manager.

  • A server access port is modified on the Composable Fabric Manager.

  • A server access port LAG is modified on the Composable Fabric Manager.
