Forcibly remove an enclosure if a remove action fails

If HPE OneView cannot establish communication with an enclosure, you must forcibly remove the enclosure from HPE OneView. This situation might occur if you physically remove the enclosure when it is offline.

IMPORTANT:

When you forcibly remove an enclosure, you must delete or reassign all server profiles that are assigned to the server hardware in the enclosure. The Logical Enclosure is automatically deleted.

Prerequisites

  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Server administrator

  • No server profiles are associated with the enclosure.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select Enclosures.
  2. In the master pane, select the enclosure you want to remove.
  3. Select Actions > Remove.
  4. If you receive an error message indicating that HPE OneView cannot communicate with the enclosure, click Refresh.
  5. If you receive an error message indicating that the server hardware is managed by another management system, click Remove or select Force remove enclosure.
  6. Review the confirmation message, and then click Yes, remove to remove the enclosure.
  7. Verify that the enclosure no longer displays in the master pane.
