Description

Name

A unique name for the network set you are creating. Adhere to your own best practices for network naming conventions, if you have them.

Examples:
  • vm network
  • devnets
  • CorporateLab
  • Development Hub
Preferred bandwidth

The preferred bandwidth, in Gb/s, to be used when this network set is used by a server profile. The preferred bandwidth setting of a network set can be overridden by a server profile. Changing this value for a network set will not affect server profiles that are overriding it.

This value cannot be greater than the Maximum bandwidth value.

Data type:

A number between 0.1 Gb/s and 20 Gb/s. A decimal point is not required.

Default value:

2.5

If you create multiple network sets in the same session, the default value is the value used for the last network set you created. For example, if you set a value of 5 for the preferred bandwidth, the default for this session is 5.

Examples:
  • 3.5
  • 5
Maximum bandwidth

The maximum bandwidth, in Gb/s, to be used when this network set is used by a server profile.

This value cannot be less than the preferred bandwidth.

Data type:

A number between 0.1 Gb/s and 20 Gb/s. A decimal point is not required.

Default value:

20.0

If you create multiple network sets in the same session, the default value is the value used for the last network set you created. For example, if you set a value of 9.5 for the maximum bandwidth, the default for this session is 9.5.

Examples:
  • 8.5
  • 9
Type

The type of the network set.

Regular
This network set can contain up to 162 networks.
Large
This network set can contain up to 4,000 networks. This option is only available for rack servers.
Networks

Enables you to select and remove networks and to designate an untagged network. The items displayed depend on whether there are networks configured for this network set.

List of networks

A list of all networks that are members of this network set. This list is available only if the network set contains networks.

In order for a network set to be used in a server profile connection, all networks in the network set must be available on the logical interconnect group and the logical interconnect that contain the connection.

For a given network:

  • Select Untagged to designate the network as the network to be used for untagged packets. One network in a network set can be untagged.

  • Click X to remove the network from the network set.

Add networks

Enables you to add networks to the network set. When you click Add networks, the Add Networks to network set dialog box opens to display a list of networks you can add to the network set. To select multiple networks, use the Ctrl or Shift key while clicking.

For information about this dialog box, see Add Networks to network set dialog box.

If no tagged Ethernet networks are available to be added, this button is disabled.

Remove all

Removes all networks from this network set

This button appears if the network set contains networks.

Use this button to remove all networks from the network set before you add their replacements. If a server profile adds a connection to an empty network set, the server cannot connect to any data center networks using that connection.
