OS Deployment

Server profile OS Deployment settings control operating system installation and configuration. The deployment plan that you select defines the settings that display.

OS deployment plan

A hyperlink to the deployment plan in the Image Streamer UI. Displays not set if OS deployment settings are not specified for the server profile.

You can specify an OS deployment plan on the server profile only if the enclosure group has OS deployment configured, else a static message displays indicating that deployment is not supported.

OS volume

An OS volume is created as a result of an OS deployment when the server profile is applied on server hardware with a deployment plan. The server boots from this volume on power cycle. If the server profile has no assigned server hardware, pending assignment displays.

OS volume is a hyperlink to the volume in the Image Streamer UI.

Deployment settings

Deployment settings (deployment plan attributes and their configured values) for the selected deployment plan.

Each OS deployment plan is unique and contains deployment settings appropriate for that individual deployment plan. This can be empty if a deployment plan does not define any attributes.

Custom attributes for each NIC specify IPv4 configuration options. These options specify how the network information, such as IP address and netmask, will be obtained by the server profile for that specific interface. The IPv4 configuration options:

  • Auto: Network values automatically come from the IP pools of the network specified in the connection.

  • DHCP: Only the MAC address is sent. All other values are picked up by the target at the time of configuration.

  • User-specified: All values except the IPv4 address are automatically taken from the specified network. You can enter the IPv4 address. Ensure the IPv4 address is outside the range specified in the network of the connection.

Each network interface requires the following set of attributes:

  • IP address

  • Netmask address

  • Gateway address

  • DNS values

  • MAC address (the value is automatically entered when the connection is created and assigned to a NIC)

Import settings from deployment plan

Imports the deployment settings from the selected deployment plan. All the current changes are discarded.

Re-deploy the server using the current OS deployment settings

When selected, the new OS volume is created with the current OS deployment settings. The contents from the old OS volume are discarded.
