Logical drive details

Integrated storage controller

Displays the logical drive details for the integrated storage controller.

Write cache

Controller write cache. Available when the profile has the Gen10 server type selected.

Name

The name of the logical drive; must be unique within the profile.

Type

Displays Logical Drive for integrated storage.

Logical drive ID (RAID and mixed mode)

The number assigned to the logical drive. The logical drive number is automatically assigned when the logical drive is created on the target server hardware. A logical drive that has not yet been created displays pending.

RAID level (RAID and mixed mode)

The RAID level for the logical drive.

Number of drives

Number of physical drives associated with the logical drive.

For logical drives, only values that meet the constraints of the RAID level are available.

Size GB

Displays n/a for integrated controllers.

Drive Technology

The type of drive technology.

Accelerator

Available for Gen10 servers only. This setting indicates if the Smart Array controller can use an acceleration method to improve the performance of physical disk operations. When set to Enabled, the Smart Array controller uses the write cache as the acceleration method.

Boot (RAID or mixed mode)

When this option is selected, the logical drive is set to boot.

X icon

Deletes the logical drive. The logical drive is deleted immediately.

Mezzanine storage controller

Displays the logical drive details for the Mezzanine storage controller.

Status icon

The icon shows the health status of the LJBOD associated with the logical drive.

Name

The name of the logical drive or SAS logical JBOD.

Type

Logical drive can be internal, external, or external JBOD

Logical Drive ID

The number assigned to the logical drive SAS logical JBOD. The logical drive number is automatically assigned when the logical drive is created on the target server hardware. A logical drive that has not yet been created displays pending.

RAID Level

The RAID level for the logical drive SAS logical JBOD.

Number of drives

Number of physical drives in the logical drive SAS logical JBOD.

For logical drives, only values that meet the constraints of the RAID level are available.

Size GB

The range between the minimum and maximum size, in GB (gigabytes), of the physical drives allocated for the logical drive or SAS logical JBOD.

Drive Technology

The type of drive technology.

Boot (RAID or mixed mode)

When this option is selected, the logical drive is set to boot.

Erase on delete

When you delete a JBOD, this option determines if the data on the physical drives that are allocated to the JBOD is retained or erased.

Yes

Erase the data from the physical drives when the SAS logical JBOD is deleted from the server profile. The physical drives are released from the SAS logical JBOD and then data is erased.

No

Do not erase the data from the physical drives when the SAS logical JBOD is deleted from the server profile.

NOTE:

The drives will be inaccessible while the erase process is in progress.

Permanent

When Permanent is selected, the logical JBOD is retained after the profile is deleted. The JBOD that is retained can then be managed from the Logical JBODs screen. It can also be assigned to a different server profile.

When Permanent is not selected, the logical JBOD is deleted when the profile is deleted.

Accelerator

Available for Gen10 servers only. This setting indicates if the Smart Array controller can use an acceleration method to improve the performance of physical disk operations. When set to Enabled, the Smart Array controller uses the write cache as the acceleration method.

X icon

Deletes the logical drive or SAS logical JBOD. The logical drive or JBOD is deleted immediately.

Drive details

Shows details of the physical drives allocated to the logical drive SAS logical JBOD.

Status icon

Indicates the status of the SAS logical JBOD. For logical drives, the icon displays the status of the SAS logical JBOD associated with the logical drive.

Enclosure and bay

The drive enclosure name and bay number of the physical drive. The name is a link to details about the enclosure.
