Create a server profile

This procedure describes how to create a server profile and the prerequisites for configuration. You can deploy a server with the required configuration if you assign a server profile to a server hardware.

Prerequisites
Procedure
  1. To create a server profile, do one of the following:
    1. From the main menu, select SERVERS > Server Profiles. In the Server Profiles screen, click + Create Profile in the master pane.
    2. From the main menu, select SERVERS > Server Profiles. In the Server Profiles screen, select Actions > Create.
      NOTE:

The Actions menu is displayed only when there is at least one server profile created.

    3. From the Server Hardware screen, select the server hardware from the list of available servers (which displays the server properties), and click the Create profile link next to the server hardware name.
      NOTE:

If the server hardware is not supported or is unmanaged, the Create profile link is not available.

  2. Select an existing server profile template to use.
    NOTE:

Select None if you do not want to use a template.

  3. From the Server Hardware list, select the target server hardware.
The available profile settings are based on the server hardware type or the template you select. The conditions under which the available server profile settings can be changed for the target server depends on whether the server hardware is powered on or powered off.
    NOTE:

If you have navigated from the Server Hardware screen, the hardware is prepopulated.

  4. Customize other sections by providing the requested data.

The following are the prerequisites for each of the configurations.

    OS Deployment
    • An enclosure group that is configured for OS deployment must be created.

    • An OS deployment server must be added.

    • One or more OS deployment plans must be created in the OS deployment server.

    • If the OS deployment plan contains NIC type deployment settings, the uplink sets in the logical interconnect group must be configured for one or more Ethernet networks.

The OS deployment plans that are created in the OS deployment server are included in the OS deployment plan list.

    Firmware

The imported firmware bundles are included in the Firmware baseline list. To import firmware bundles, use the Firmware Bundles screen.

    Connections
    • One or more networks must be defined. Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and FCoE networks are supported.

    • One or more network sets can be defined.

The following are the prerequisites for the modules:

    HPE Virtual Connect Modules
    • A logical enclosure group must be created.

    • The logical enclosure group must contain a logical interconnect group that describes the configuration of the Virtual Connect modules.

    • The logical enclosure group must be applied to the physical enclosures, creating logical enclosure.

HPE Synergy 12Gb SAS Connection Module
    • A logical enclosure group must be created.

    • The logical enclosure group must contain a logical interconnect group to indicate if modules are expected in the interconnect module bay 1, bay 4, or bays 1 and 4.

    • The logical enclosure group must be applied to the physical enclosure, creating a logical enclosure.

Brocade 16Gb Fibre Channel SAN Switch Model for HPE Synergy
    • Fibre Channel networks with "Fabric attach" fabric type must exist.

    SAN Storage
    • A storage system must be added to HPE OneView.

    • If available, a SAN manager must be configured to provide best support.

    Local Storage/Boot Settings/BIOS Settings/iLO Settings/Advanced

There are no prerequisites for these settings.

  5. Click Create or Create + to create the profile and apply it to the selected server hardware.
After you click Create +, you can begin creating another profile.
    NOTE:

If you are managing the server hardware BIOS through the profile, a progress indicator displays as the profile is being created.

If you are applying firmware to the server hardware, profile creation can take up to 1 hour.

After the profile is created and applied to the server hardware, it appears in the master pane of the Server Profiles screen.

  6. Repeat this procedure for every server profile you want to create. Each profile is applied to one server. Therefore, you must create a profile for every server in your enclosures.
  7. Verify that the profile was created in the master pane.
