About configuring OS deployment in a server profile template

OS deployments using Image Streamer and OS deployment plans can be defined and configured within the server profile template. You can create multiple server profiles from a single server profile template having the same OS deployment plan.

In a server profile template, select an enclosure group with OS deployment already configured, and then select an available OS deployment plan. Custom attributes that are defined in the OS deployment plan are displayed for you to provide values. Tokens can be used to help supply values automatically that otherwise you would need to provide manually. Use the tokens profile, serial number, enclosure, and enclosure bay to create custom OS deployment attributes, such as hostname and domain name. Initially, the tokens have no value but when server profiles are created from the server profile template, the tokens are replaced with actual values.

The tokens can be used in combination with each other, as well as with user-defined text. If a custom attribute is left blank in the server profile template, you must provide the value on the Server Profile screen.

For the OS deployment plan, select None as the value to manually manage the OS deployment.

The custom attribute default values as received from the Image Streamer deployment plan are the default values for the deployment settings in the server profile template. You can override them in the server profile template. In the server profile, the custom attributes are kept as editable and can be changed. If you select a valid deployment plan in the server profile template, and then change this value in the server profile, a compliance alert is displayed on the Server Profile screen.
