Execute a ping or traceroute session from an interconnect

HPE OneView provides you with the capability to execute a ping or traceroute session, directly from the NETWORKING > Interconnects screen. While executing a ping or a traceroute session, you must specify either the host name or IP address. The Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packets are transmitted directly from the interconnect modules to the server. When you communicate with the destination directly from the interconnect, you can easily check for network connectivity issues, diagnose them, and select a specific issue that you can easily resolve.

Prerequisites
  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Network administrator.
  • Host name or IP address of the device or the server that you want to ping.
Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select NETWORKING > Interconnects.
  2. From the master pane, select the interconnect for which you want to execute the ping or traceroute session.
  3. Select Actions > Diagnostic Tools.
  4. In the Diagnostic Tools dialog box, provide either the IP address or host name, and then do the following:
    • To analyze the network transmission, click Ping.
    • To analyze the network path, click Traceroute.
  5. Read the output in the Results field.
  6. To stop the ping or traceroute execution, click Close.
