Remediation of network sets on existing downlink connections

Fabric Manager detects the server profile connections and the associated network sets for a given vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS) in a Virtual Machine manager (VMM) of the Cisco APIC. Any changes to the networks in a VDS of a referenced VMM are tracked and associated network sets are updated accordingly. If a connection is not detected for a given VDS, then a network set is created or an existing network set is mapped to the VDS. The existing network set, based on the networks matching criteria, is mapped to the VDS without any association to a downlink connection.

If the detected connection has a single network without a network set, then any update for network through remediation is reported as manual.

If a network set is deployed on a server profile connection used in a non ACI environment or in other APIC cluster, then any update to the network set through remediation is reported as manual.

All the APIC configurations related to the End Point Groups (EPG) are auto translated into the updates of the network set deployed over the existing connection. The remediation process keeps the HPE OneView and APIC configurations in sync, maintains the network intact, and avoids any traffic disruption.

IMPORTANT:
  • Fabric manager does not add or remove static VLANs in the network set. If required, the server administrator can add or remove static VLANs in the network set manually.

  • Fabric manager does not create or edit or delete the server profile connections. Fabric Manager only edits the network set already deployed on the server profile connection.

  • Network cannot be used in the server profile connection. With server profile template usage, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends using the network set with the logical interconnect group.

  • The host ports must be migrated to VDS for fabric manager to detect the network set.

  • Large network set remediation might be reported as manual for a Fabric Manager having network set shared across multiple logical interconnects. This might be because the large network set is not supported by some of the interconnects like HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for HPE Synergy.
