About managed and monitored interconnects

Interconnects that are managed are put in a Configured state when the Synergy frame is configured by creating a logical enclosure. An unmanaged interconnect remains in the Monitored state when the Synergy frame is configured by creating a logical enclosure.

Managed

HPE OneView manages the interconnects—enabling you to apply configurations, collect statistics, and alert users to specific conditions.

Monitored

HPE OneView monitors hardware for inventory and hardware status only. Monitored interconnects are not associated with firmware baselines or logical interconnects.

The Synergy 10Gb Pass-Thru Module is a monitored interconnect. It must be part of a logical enclosure for a connected server port to be assigned an IP address from the address pool when utilized in an enclosure group. It is not included in logical enclosure firmware updates or support dump collection. Together with interconnect link modules, these switches compose an interconnect link topology, which HPE OneView monitors.

NOTE:

Firmware baseline can be set for Synergy 10Gb Pass-Thru Module by virtue of its association to logical enclosure.

NOTE:

In HPE OneView, the Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module does not support firmware updates or support dump collection. Use the command line interface to perform these actions.
