Configure the appliance network at first-time login

During the first-time setup, you can choose to enter the appliance networking configuration prior to hardware discovery (recommended), or after the hardware discovery completes.

Prerequisites
  • The appliance is physically connected to the network.

  • You have gathered the information you need to configure the appliance network.
Procedure
  1. Enter the appliance host name.
If you specify Domain Name Service (DNS) as a host name, you must specify the fully qualified host name. For example,
    • my-host-name.example.com (when DNS is used).

    • my-host-name (when DNS is not used).

  2. Assign the IPv4 address.

For manual address assignment, provide the IP address of the HPE Synergy Composer.

    CAUTION:

Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends using a static IP address for best results.

    IMPORTANT:

Do not assign IPv4 addresses in the range 172.16.0.0 through 172.16.0.255 to:

    • HPE OneView

    • Devices on the management LAN that communicate with HPE OneView. This includes DNS servers, NTP servers, clients such as browsers, and so on.

The HPE Synergy Composer uses this range to communicate with other devices in the management ring.

  3. Assign the IPv6 address for dual-stack (to run both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols).
  4. Click OK to configure the network.

Do not close the Applying network settings dialog box in the browser. Make sure that you remain connected until the network settings process is complete.
