Hypervisor cluster profile limitations

This section details the features that are not available in HPE OneView today. These features require tools external to HPE OneView.

  • The hypervisor cluster profile does not support modifying the VMware vSphere Distributed Switch (vDS) version in the VMware vCenter server. To reflect this change, modify the vDS version external to HPE OneView and then update the hypervisor cluster profile in HPE OneView.

  • The hypervisor cluster profile creates VMkernel ports with default tcp/ip stack. If any other tcp/ip stack is needed on these VMkernel ports, use tools external to HPE OneView to configure these VMkernel ports.

  • When a virtual switch name or VMkernel port name is changed in the hypervisor cluster profile, only the management VMkernel port is migrated; whereas, other VMkernel ports or VM port groups are deleted and added.

  • You cannot migrate the virtual switch from Distributed to Standard type using hypervisor cluster profile in any of the following scenarios. Use tools external to HPE OneView to perform such migrations.

    • It is a VMware vSAN cluster.

    • The virtual switch has VMkernel port for ESXi management network.

  • The hypervisor cluster profile does not support configuring LACP. If you have defined LAG in the server profile template connections, the hypervisor cluster profile configures networking on the hypervisors without LACP configuration. To configure LACP, use VMware vCenter interface or tools external to HPE OneView.

  • When you grow a logical enclosure, the member server profiles are updated to refer to the new server profile template. The hypervisor cluster profile does not support changing the new server profile template. You can delete the hypervisor cluster profile using the OneView only option and then reimport the hypervisor cluster profile using the new server profile template.

  • The hypervisor cluster profile does not automatically reconfigure the datastore to storage volume size changes. If you have increased the size of the storage volume in the storage system, use VMware vCenter server interface to update datastore to claim the newly updated storage capacity.

  • If a hypervisor cluster managed by HPE OneView has cluster members spanning multiple logical enclosures, you cannot update firmware on two or more logical enclosures in parallel.

  • While remediating the inconsistencies in the hypervisors using the hypervisor cluster profile,

    • The remediation process cannot be paused or stopped after it has started.

    • The order of hosts within the remediation task cannot be modified.
