Create networks

Create networks to define connections that route data across the IT infrastructure. You can create a single Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or FCoE network or multiple, tagged Ethernet networks at one time.
NOTE:

Adding a network does not require that you take network resources offline.

For more information about networks and how to use them, see Networks and network types.

Prerequisites

Privileges:Network administrator

Before you create a connection in a server profile, you must:
  • Create at least one network.

  • Add the network to a logical interconnect group.

  • Assign the network to internal networks or an uplink set.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select NETWORKING > Networks, and then do one of the following:
    1. Click + Create network in the master pane.
    2. Select Actions > Create.
    NOTE:

The Actions menu is not displayed until you create at least one network.

  2. Enter the data requested on the screen.

If you select more than one network set, the new network will be added to all the selected network sets.

The Create Network dialog box displays an alert if you try to create a network that exists within the current reserved VLAN ID pool.

    NOTE:

To create multiple, tagged Ethernet networks, type in a set of values or a range of values in the VLAN ID field. For example: 113, 114, 200–300.

  3. Click Create to complete the action or click Create + to create another network.
  4. Verify that the network or networks were created in the master pane.
