Delete a scope

Deleting a scope permanently removes it and its resource assignments.

Prerequisites
  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Scope administrator. A Scope administrator can only delete a scope that is not used in a user or group permission or an alert email notification filter.
  • The scope you intend to delete must not be used by a user or group permission or an alert email notification filter. These conditions are indicated by a Used by field on the Scopes screen. To remove the scope usage, follow the Used by hyperlinks to the Users and Groups screen and the Notifications screen. Edit each affected user, group, and notification filter to remove the use of the scope.
Procedure
  1. From the main menu, click Settings, and then in the Scopes panel, click Scopes to access the Scopes screen.
  2. Select the scope to delete from the list of scopes in the master pane of the Scopes screen.
  3. Select Actions > Delete.

    A message displays indicating that all resource assignments are automatically unassigned.

    NOTE:
    • If you attempt to delete a scope used by a user or group permission or an alert email notification filter, the Yes, delete button is unavailable.
  4. Click Yes, delete.
  5. Verify that the scope was deleted, no longer appears in the master pane, and the number of scopes decreased by one.
