Appliance SNMP settings for forwarding traps from server iLO
HPE OneView can be used as a proxy to forward device traps from server iLO and Onboard Administrator to other SNMP-enabled applications on the network. HPE OneView can forward either SNMPv3 or SNMPv1 traps to configured destinations.
The appliance SNMP settings allow you to add destinations to forward the traps. Configure each destination as either SNMPv1 or SNMPv3 destination based on the trap format.
Set the SNMP community string that will be used when traps are forwarded using SNMPv1. The community string is a shared community name for authentication that serves as a password for a trap forwarding destination. The read community string must match the community string of the destination. To monitor HPE ProLiant G6 and G7 servers, which support only SNMPv1 trap format, set the read community string. No SNMP settings are necessary for monitoring Gen8 and newer servers.
SNMP traps from a server are not forwarded when the server is in maintenance mode.
The HPE OneView appliance does not forward SNMP traps that originate from the interconnect modules. To receive traps on a remote monitoring system, you must configure the interconnects to send the traps directly to the monitoring system. These settings are configured by visiting the SNMP panel at or .
Some SNMP monitoring appliances require a host SNMP agent on the device from which it is receiving traps. HPE OneView does not provide an SNMP agent with its forwarding capability. If your monitoring appliance requires a host SNMP agent, manually configure each iLO to direct the traps to the SNMP monitoring appliance without being forwarded by HPE OneView per these settings.
