Add a firmware bundle to the appliance firmware repository

To ensure that your hardware has the latest and most robust firmware bundle that takes advantage of all available management features, download the latest firmware bundle to your appliance and add it to the firmware repository.

NOTE:

If you are uploading the latest firmware bundle as part of first-time setup configuration tasks, you can proceed with the initial configuration tasks while the firmware upload completes. The upload can take several minutes.

Prerequisites
  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator, Network administrator, or Server administrator.

  • You have downloaded at least one SPP to your local system.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select APPLIANCE > Firmware Bundles, and then do one of the following:
    • Click + Add Firmware Bundle in the masters pane.

    • Select Actions > Add.

  2. On the Add Firmware Bundle screen, do one of the following:
    • Drag and drop the firmware bundle files onto the shaded portion of the screen.

    • Click Browse to select one or more files that contain the firmware bundle.

Apart from an iso file, you can also upload a hotfix file. Following are the supported formats:

    • .exe for Windows.

    • .scexe and .rpm for Linux.

    • .fwpkg or .zip for VMware ESXi.

    NOTE:

Do not modify the hotfix file name after you download the file from the Hewlett Packard Enterprise website.

  3. Click OK to upload the firmware bundle or hotfix to the firmware bundle repository. You can click Close to close the dialog window and the upload will continue as a background task within the web application, but do not close your browser or log out until the upload completes. To view the progress of the upload, from the main menu, select APPLIANCE > Firmware Bundles.
  4. Verify that the upload completed by viewing the firmware bundle contents in the firmware bundles details pane.
