Force deleting a hypervisor cluster profile

The standard delete action to delete the hypervisor cluster profile often fails when there are issues while performing changes to the hypervisor manager, or there are issues connecting to the hypervisor manager.

In the event of a failure, you can use the force delete option to delete the resources in HPE OneView, regardless of the issues.

The behavior of the force delete option varies depending on the delete option selected.
  • Force delete cluster profile using the option OneView and the hypervisor manager

HPE OneView ignores the encountered issues when deleting the associated hypervisor cluster in the hypervisor manager, and proceeds with deleting the hypervisor cluster profile, the associated hypervisor profiles, and the associated server profiles. This behavior leaves the hypervisor manager in an inconsistent state, as it fails to remove the cluster and the hypervisor configurations. As a result, there can be duplicate addresses and identifiers on the network, leading to networking problems. After a force delete, you must clean the cluster and the hypervisor configurations in the hypervisor manager using tools external to HPE OneView.

  • Force delete cluster profile using the option OneView only

HPE OneView ignores the issues while unsubscribing from the events in the hypervisor manager, and proceeds with deleting the hypervisor cluster profile and the associated hypervisor profiles. The server profiles are not deleted from HPE OneView and the hypervisor cluster remains unaltered in the hypervisor manager. The force delete action using the option OneView only does not disturb the associated cluster or the workloads that are running on the cluster.
