Rack power and temperature

The appliance collects power and temperature utilization data for the rack in 24-hour collection periods. The appliance displays the data using meter and values in the Utilization panel and the Utilization screen.

NOTE:
  • Only iPDUs display utilization data.

  • There are some cases where the Utilization panel does not display utilization data.

Power allocation

Power allocation is displayed using an allocation meter and value.

The power allocation meter depicts the allocated power and the calibrated maximum power of all devices mounted on the rack. This value is not the current utilization of the rack-mounted devices.

Allocated power

Allocated power is the total amount of power required by the contained equipment in the rack.

Capacity

Capacity is the total derated power available to the rack. The lesser of the thermal limit (if set) or the derated power capacity delivered to the rack through all power delivery devices. If devices are redundantly powered, the total derated power capacity is divided by 2. If no power delivery is configured to the rack, the capacity is the total maximum power consumption of all resources in the rack.

The power value is the allocation and total capacity during the most recent 24-hour data collection period.

Temperature

The rack temperature is displayed in a temperature meter and is depicted in the temperature meter and a temperature value. The temperature meter depicts the portion of the available capacity used during the most recent 24-hour data collection period.

The temperature value is the current aggregated temperature during the most recent 24-hour data collection period.

If you specify a thermal limit, the appliance analyzes the equipment in the rack to determine if it might exceed the limit.
