Removing a monitored HPE Synergy frame from a frame link topology

Part of this procedure is performed in the data center.

Prerequisites
  • Minimum required privileges: Infrastructure administrator, Hardware setup, or Server administrator

  • If you are removing a frame from the primary frame link topology, the frame cannot contain an active or standby HPE Synergy Composer.

Procedure
  1. Disconnect management cables from the MGMT ports on the frame you are removing, if any.
  2. Disconnect the frame link cables from the LINK ports on the frame that you are removing.
  3. If at least one frame remains to be managed, reconnect the management cables, connecting the MGMT ports on the link modules that are in the same frame and bay as the composer to the management LAN.

For high availability in a multi-frame remote frame link topology, each frame must have two frame link modules and the MGMT uplinks should be spread across frame link modules in separate frames.

  4. If multiple frames remain to be managed, reconnect the frame link cables in the remaining frames to re-form the frame link topology.

If a single-frame remains, connect the LINK ports to each other.

  5. In HPE OneView, select the Enclosures screen from the main menu, and then select the frame that has been removed from the topology.
  6. Wait for HPE OneView to alert you that connectivity has been lost.
  7. Select Actions > Delete.
  8. Verify that the Synergy frame no longer displays in the Enclosures screen master pane.
  9. Factory reset the frame link module of the removed frame.
  10. Using the Hardware Setup checklist, verify that the reconfigured frame link topology has no cabling errors.
    NOTE:

At this point, an administrator must configure a logical enclosure and server profiles to bring the modified frame link topology back under management.
