Reapply SAN configuration

Reapply the managed SAN configuration in the following instances:
  • If the managed SAN zoning policy changes.

  • If a managed SAN switch is replaced.

  • If unanticipated changes occur to the managed SAN zones or switches.

Reapplying the SAN configuration allows you to recalculate the zones and aliases for a SAN, based on the current SAN zoning policy. The reapplied configuration is also activated on the SAN. Reapplying the SAN configuration is nondisruptive to any servers that access the storage over the SAN.

The length of time required to recalculate and reapply the configuration can vary, depending upon:
  • The number of paths in use on the SAN.

  • The reconfiguration required to bring the SANs into compliance with the zoning changes.

Reapplying the configuration can take several hours. Monitor the progress using the Activity screen.
