Volume does not boot operating system as expected

Symptom

A SAN storage volume is configured with no visible errors, but the volume does not behave as expected.

Cause

The CHAP name for an iSCSI initiator defined in a server profile exceeds name character limits required by a network adapter. When the CHAP name is not recognized, the blade fails to connect to storage, and the volume cannot boot the operating system.

Action
  1. Consult the HPE OneView Support Matrix for HPE Synergy to locate known character limits for supported adapters.
  2. Within the server profile, reconfigure the CHAP name of the iSCSI initiator for a SAN storage volume to fall within the known character limit of the target network adaptor.
  3. Retry the operation.
