Create a Project for a Company

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

A Project represents an initiative, product, or device-management grouping. A Project can represent an industrial plant, for example. Workload Orchestrator supports multiple Projects within a Company. Projects can isolate management for specific devices, collect data contained within the Project, and assign user and Team roles for data access. A Project dashboard provides device status visibility. The combination of a Company and a Project defines a tenant in a mult-tenancy environment.

Once you configure a Project, the Project Dashboard becomes the centralized overview of the Project on a single page. It shows what services are active on the server side along with a statistical visualization of the messages, number of devices, and alerts. Various Project settings can be accessed from the navigation panel at the left of the window.

When you log in to Workload Orchestrator, if you have access to more than one Company, you will be taken to a menu where you can select a Company. If you have access to only one Company, you will be taken directly to that Company.

The starting point for configuring a Project begins with the Company dashboard.

To create a Project for a Company:

  1. In the navigation panel, click Project List.
  2. In the Projects window, click New project.
  3. In the Create Project dialog, enter a Name and Description.

The Project name must be alphanumeric characters and cannot include spaces or special characters.

  4. Click Create.

  5. In the Projects window, click the newly created Project to view the Project Dashboard.

The path displayed at the top of the Workload Orchestrator window indicates the Company and Project.
