HPE Synergy best practices

The information in this section provides high-level requirements for designing an HPE Synergy solution.

HPE Synergy Composer

  • A redundant HPE Synergy management ring requires a pair of Composers. The Composers must be the same generation for each management ring.

  • The HPE Synergy Composer2 (872957-B21/872957-B22) is compatible with both the 2-port FLM and the 4-port FLM.

  • The HPE Synergy Composer (1st gen) (804353-B21/804353-B22) is not compatible with the 4-port FLM within a single frame. HPE Synergy frames that contain the Composer (1st gen) require the 2-port FLM.

HPE Synergy Frame Link Module

  • Options for the frame link modules include the 2-port FLM (804942-B21) and the 4-port FLM (876852-B21).

  • Each HPE Synergy frame with a management ring requires two frame link modules. Frame link modules within the same frame must be the same generation.

  • A management ring can contain mixed frame link module configurations ( frames with two 2-port FLMs and frames with two 4-port FLMs. For more information about mixed frame support, see the following:
