{Enclosure name and bay number} cannot join the appliance cluster because it belongs to another cluster or is trying to form one

Symptom

{Enclosure name and bay number} cannot join the appliance cluster because it belongs to another cluster or is trying to form one. There can be only one appliance cluster managing the linked frames.

ID: HACluster.NeedsReimage

Severity: Critical or Warning

Health Category: Ha-nodes

Resource URI: /rest/appliance/ha-nodes/{enclosure ID}

Cause

The peer appliance has a different firmware version number from the reference appliance and is not in a factory reset state.

Action
  1. Do one of the following:
    • If this appliance cluster is managing all the linked frames, reimage the peer appliance with the specified firmware version.

    • If the appliance's cluster is managing all the linked frames, reimage this appliance with the specified firmware version.

    • Unlink the frames so that each cluster is linked only to frames that it is managing.

    To reimage an appliance:
    1. Insert a USB drive containing the required firmware version into the USB port on the appliance.
    2. Press and hold the appliance reset button for at least 10 seconds. This will replace the firmware so that the appliance can join the appliance cluster.

      For more information about the reimaging process, see the product documentation on the Hewlett Packard Enterprise website.
