A user with the proper privileges can assign responsibility for an alert to a user, who will investigate and correct the issue.

For convenience, the appliance maintains a list of users who are currently assigned to alerts.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum required privileges: Infrastructure administrator

Assigning an owner to an alert

  1. From the main menu, select Activity.

  2. You can select one alert, multiple alerts, or all the alerts on the screen:

    • Click a single alert row to select it.

    • To select multiple alerts, hold down the Ctrl key while you select the alert rows.

    • To assign all the alerts shown on the Activity screen, click Select all.

  3. Select ActionsAssign.

  4. In the Assign Alerts screen, do one of the following:

    • Select the search icon () to expand a menu. Choose the user name from the menu.

      [NOTE: ]

NOTE: The menu lists the Infrastructure administrator or users who are currently assigned to alerts. Initially, the menu just lists the Administrator. As you assign owners, the menu is populated with users who are assigned to alerts.

Click unassigned to remove an owner’s assignment.

    • Enter a valid user name in the text field.

You can enter a local user name or a user name from an authentication directory service using Active Directory or LDAP. The appliance does not verify the user name you enter.

Alternatively, if an alert displays an Expand menu icon () next to displayed owner, you can select the icon to assign an owner. This icon contains a menu of users who are currently assigned to alerts. Clicking Assign other... opens the Assign Alerts screen so that you can enter a user name.
