Activity screen details

The Activity screen consists of the following:

Activity heading details

Screen component Description

Click the right pin icon () to collapse the filter options in the Activity heading and to expand the Activity filter sidebar.

Click the left pin icon () to collapse the Activity filter sidebar and to expand the filter options in the Activity heading.

Activity number

Displays the number of activities, both tasks and alerts.

Filter options

Select the filtering criteria for the activity list display. The filter criteria are the same as for the Activity filter sidebar.

Click the left pin icon to collapse the Activity filter sidebar and expand the filter options in the Activity heading.

Click the right pin icon to collapse the filter options in the Activity heading and expand the Activity filter sidebar.

Filter options

Reset

Click this button to reset all filter options to their default values and refresh the activity list.

This button appears at the top of the Activity filter sidebar and at the end of the Activity heading.

Filter

Select Needs attention to display uncleared activities with a status of Critical or Warning. Otherwise, select All to display all activities.

Type

Select the type of activity to display in the activity list.

Default value:

All types

Status

Display activities by status.

Default value:

All statuses

State

Display activities by state.

Default value:

All states

Date

Display activities that occurred within a given time frame.

Default value:

All time

Owner

Displays the alerts assigned to a given user

Displays the tasks this user performed

Default value:

All owners that have previously been assigned to an alert

Activity list details

Screen component Description
Select all

Click this button to select all activities shown in the activity list.

Use the expand icon to expand the row describing the activity. Expanding a row displays detailed information on the activity, including the full name of the activity and a possible resolution. See View an activity.

Rows are collapsed by default with truncated messages.

Use the collapse icon to collapse the row describing the activity.

Status and severity icons

The icon shown indicates the status of the activity.

For a description of each icon, see Status and severity icons.

Name

Displays either the name of the task that was performed or a message associated with the alert.

Such messages are truncated when collapsed. Use the expand icon to view both the message in full and a possible resolution.

You can sort the resources in ascending or descending order by clicking Name at the top of the column, then clicking the Sort icon that appears.

Resource

Displays the source of the activity. The source can be the device that was involved in a task or the device that caused the alert.

Click the link to access the screen that manages the resource.

When you select or expand an activity, or hover your pointing device on the resource, the appliance displays the resource category.

You can sort the resources in ascending or descending order by clicking Resource at the top of the column, then clicking the Sort icon that appears.

Date

The date and time when either a task was started or when an alert arrived.

You can sort the activities by newest or oldest by clicking Date at the top of the column, and then clicking the Sort icon that appears.

State

The state of the activity.

For a task in a Running state, the display shows how long it has been running. For example, 16s indicates that the task has been running for 16 seconds.

You can sort by activity state in ascending or descending order by clicking State at the top of the column, then clicking the Sort icon that appears.

Owner

The name of the user that either started the task or is assigned to investigate the alert. Users who are currently assigned to alerts are listed in a menu.

You can sort by owner in ascending or descending order by clicking Owner at the top of the column, then clicking the Sort icon that appears.

x

Click the x to change the activity’s state to Cleared. This does not delete the activity.

If x is not displayed in this column, you cannot clear the activity.

Activity sidebar details

The Activity sidebar shows task activities generated during your current login session.

Component Description

Shows recent task activity generated during your login session.

When the Activity sidebar is closed, the number of alert or task notifications that have not yet been viewed appears next to the Activity icon.

Activity

Describes the alert or task and the affected resource.

A health status icon indicates the current status of the resource associated with the activity.
