Settings Overview screen details

The Settings Overview screen displays read only information associated with various configuration settings.

Use the following View menu selections to navigate to additional screens for more details.

  • Appliance: General, Networks, Time and Language, Backup

  • Product Keys

  • Facility Custom Attributes

  • Security: Authentication, Directories, Certificate, Public Key

You can also access these additional details screens by selecting the title whenever there is a > next to it (for example click Appliance > in the Appliance pane to see more details about the appliance settings).

To edit any of the setting shown on the Settings Overview screen, select Edit in any of the panes to display a screen for editing.

The following tables provide a description of the information displayed on the Settings Overview screen.

Appliance settings information

Screen component Description
Resource status

Indicates the status of the required VM resource.

The appliance has the following minimum requirements:

  • LAN – 1 Gb/s

  • CPU – 4 @ 2 GHz

  • Memory – 16 GB

Host name

Appliance host name. If you are supplying a DNS server, this host name must be fully qualified. From a supported browser, you can navigate to the appliance using this name or by using the appliance IP address.

Network Interfaces

Click the status icon to see the following details:

  • Usage: Appliance — shows the IP address for the Appliance network interface.

  • Usage: Deployment — shows the IP address for the Deployment network interface

Model

Insight Control server provisioning virtual machine appliance will read IC server provisioning.

Date/time

Current appliance date and time. This is the date and time used by the UI. The time zone is UTC.

Version

Insight Control server provisioning version currently running.

Media Server settings information

Screen component Description
File share host

IP address or host name of the Windows file share that is hosting the Media Server.

File share name

Name of the Windows file share on the Media Server.

File share user

Windows user name that has access to the file share.

HTTP server host

IP address of the system hosting the HTTP media server.

HTTP server path

Virtual directory on the HTTP server that points to the lower level folder where all the media are stored.

DHCP Server settings information

DHCP server

Shows enabled or disabled to indicate the state of the DHCP server on the appliance

  • Enabled – The internal DHCP server is enabled.

  • Disabled – The internal DHCP server is disabled.

Base IP address

Starting address to use for IP address assignments. This is only displayed if DHCP is enabled.

Netmask

Netmask for the DHCP server on the appliance. This is only displayed if DHCP is enabled.

Gateway

Gateway for the DHCP server on the appliance. This is only displayed if DHCP is enabled and is an optional field.

Product Keys settings information

Screen component Description
X Keys

Total number of product keys defined on the appliance. Currently, only Microsoft product keys are supported.

To see the list of product keys currently set on the appliance, click Product Keys >.

Facility Custom Attributes settings information

X Facility Custom Attributes

Total number of custom attributes defined at the facility level for this appliance.

To see the list of facility level custom attributes currently set on the appliance, click Facility Custom Attributes >.

OS Deployment settings information

Screen component Description
WinPE PXE

Indicates the version used when servers PXE boot to WinPE, either WinPE 4.0 or WinPE 3.1. When running a Build Plan that requires a different WinPE version, the target server automatically shuts down and gets booted to the correct version. See the Advanced topics section of the Insight Control Server Provisioning Administrator Guide for more information about WinPE.

Default service OS

Default service OS is used when adding bare metal servers to Insight Control server provisioning. To discover a bare metal system, the system is usually booted into a special service OS. The service OS has enough software on it to report various details about the server to the management software and also deploy a production operating system.

  • LinuxPE — A Linux based service OS

  • WinPE — A Windows based service OS

Facility name

This is the customer-provided name of your facility.

Server discovery naming

Indicates whether you are using default or customized rules for the display name that gets assigned to a server when it first boots into maintenance.

To customize server discovery naming, select Edit to reach the Edit OS Deployment settings screen.

Matrix user account Indicates whether the Matrix user account is configured or not.

NOTE: Matrix user is distinct from a regular Insight Control server provisioning user and refers to access or actions by the Matrix Operating Environment.


Security settings information

Screen component Description
Authentication Indicates whether local login is enabled and the default directory.
Directories Lists directories that have been added.
Cert common name (CN)Valid until Certificate's common name and its expiration date.

To see additional Security settings information, click Security >.

Select Edit to invoke the procedure to acquire the Public Key, configure local login or add directories.
