Create configuration files

Creating a configuration file brings it into the Insight Control server provisioning appliance database. Verify your configuration file was created by finding it in the master pane list on any Configuration Files screen.

Methods to create a configuration file

There are multiple ways to create a new configuration file:

  • Make a copy of an existing configuration file by saving it under a new name. Use ActionsSave as from any Configuration Files screen.

  • The current configuration of a target server may be captured and stored in the appliance database as a configuration file. Use an OS Build Plan step to do this as described in Edit OS Build Plans.

  • Create a configuration from scratch by selecting ActionsCreate configuration file from any Configuration files screen.
