Configuring the Brocade 16Gb FC Switch Module

Set the switch Ethernet IP address

  1. Verify the enclosure is powered on.

  2. Verify the switch is installed.

  3. Choose one of the following methods to set the Ethernet IP address:

    • Using enclosure address pool

    • Using External DHCP

    • Setting the IP address manually

Using Enclosure Address Pool

  1. Open a web browser and connect to the HPE OneView.

  2. Select Address Pool while defining an Enclosure Group.

  3. Navigate to the Interconnects screen and select the desired interconnect.

  4. Navigate to General section of the interconnect screen and document the assigned address.

  5. Verify the IP address using a Telnet or ssh login to the switch.

NOTE: For additional information on all enclosure IP addressing methods supported, see the HPE OneView User Guide for HPE Synergy.

Using external DHCP

  1. Connect to the HPE OneView using a web browser.

  2. Navigate to the Interconnects screen and select the desired interconnect.

  3. Navigate to General section of the Interconnect screen and document the DHCP assigned address.

  4. Verify the IP address using a Telnet or ssh login to the switch.

Setting the IP address manually

  1. If the switch IP address is unknown, log in to the switch using the internal serial connection:

    1. Login to OneView via Telnet or SSH.

    2. Enter console-view

Use show interconnect list to view the frames and interconnects available and then the connect interconnect <enclosure name > <bay number> command (documented in the HPE OneView User Guide for HPE Synergy) to connect to the switch bay.

  2. Login to the switch using the administrative account admin.

  3. Enter the password. The default password is password.

If you have not changed the system passwords from the default, you are prompted to change them. Enter the new system passwords, or press Ctrl+c to skip the password prompts.

  4. Apply a static IP address and disable DHCP using the ipaddrset command:

    Example login output:
    login as: admin
