Cannot add a Provider Network

Symptom Possible cause and recommendation
You cannot access the Provider Networks screen

The prerequisites have not been met

  1. Verify you have Infrastructure administrator privileges.

  2. Verify you are using the correct login credentials for the CloudSystem Foundation console.

  3. Retry accessing the Provider Networks screen.

Adding a new Provider Network action fails to complete

The network was configured incorrectly

  1. Verify that the

    • VLAN ID is in the range of valid integers (2 through 4092).

    • VLAN ID for an Ethernet network is not in the range reserved for a Fibre Channel network.

    • VLAN ID is unique.

    • Provider Network name is unique.

  2. Retry adding the Provider Network.

VLAN IDs were improperly selected

  1. If using VMware vCenter Server, verify that your VLAN IDs are correct in your network configuration files.

  2. Retry adding the Provider Network.

Cannot add a subnet to a Provider Network

Symptom Possible cause and recommendation
New subnet is not displayed on the Provider Network screen

The provider network subnet was configured incorrectly

  1. Verify that the

    • Subnet IP addresses fall into a valid CIDR range.

    • Allocation pools are correctly specified.

    • Gateway IP is correctly specified.

  2. Retry adding the Provider Network subnet.

Cannot enable DHCP on a Provider Network subnet

Symptom Possible cause and recommendation
Cannot enable DHCP on a Provider Network subnet

A DHCP server is already configured on the Provider Network subnet

  1. Verify that a DHCP server is already configured on the subnet.

  2. Clear the Enable DHCP check box on the Edit subnet screen. See Edit Provider Network.
