Create customized RAID deployments

Insight Control server provisioning provides Build Plans and configuration files to use as a starting point when deploying HP Smart Array with a customized RAID configuration. Use these to derive a Build Plan and configuration file for the RAID configuration desired in your environment.

The HP-provided content (Build Plans and configuration files) cannot be edited and should be used as a reference. You must copy or use the content as a pattern, then edit the content to customize the RAID configuration for your environment.

These instructions are intended to help you customize and use the following HP-provided Build Plans and configuration files for your environment.

HP-provided Build Plans

  • ProLiant HW - Smart Array Capture Settings

  • ProLiant HW - Smart Array Erase

  • ProLiant HW - Smart Array Set RAID 1

HP-provided configuration files

  • Smart Array Configuration – Set RAID 1

  • Smart Array Configuration – Set RAID 5

  • Smart Array Configuration – Delete RAID Logical Volumes

It is assumed you are familiar with the HP Array Configuration Utility (ACU). The Build Plan ProLiant HW - Smart Array Set RAID 1 uses the HP ACU scripting toolkit with the configuration file Smart Array Configuration – Set RAID 1 as input.

To create a Build Plan to customize a RAID configuration

  1. Create a configuration file in one of the following ways. The syntax of the configuration file must conform to the HP Array Configuration Utility (ACU) scripting tool.

  2. Make a copy of the Build Plan ProLiant HW - Smart Array Set RAID 1 with ActionsSave as.

  3. Edit your copy of the Build Plan ProLiant HW - Smart Array Set RAID 1 and replace the step Smart Array Configuration - Set RAID 1 with the configuration file created in step 1.

    [IMPORTANT: ]

IMPORTANT: Preserve the Install path parameter value when editing the deploy configuration file step of the Build Plan. The original Install path is /tmp/sstk/hpacucli/acuinput.ini and should match the parameter for Manage Smart Array Configuration.

    [NOTE: ]

NOTE: The Manage Smart Array Configuration script accepts the HP ACU scripting options [-internal | —external] and [-reset]. These options must come at the end of the parameters.

  4. Save your updated Build Plan.
