Create a Windows scripted installation OS Build Plan for a localized distribution

To create a localized Windows scripted install OS Build Plan

  1. On the Media Server, create a new directory in the .\media directory for the distribution files. For example: .\media\win2008R2SP1-xx where xx is the language code, such as DE.

  2. Copy the entire Windows distribution into the new directory.

  3. On the Insight Control server provisioning appliance, save a copy of the HP-provided Create Windows xxxx Default Unattend.xml configuration file, where xxxx is the Windows version. Change its name to better reflect the language to be installed.

  4. Edit the Create Windows xxxx Default Unattend.xml file. Change the necessary fields to align with the locale and language, such as InputLocale, SystemLocale, UserLocale, and UILanguage. HP recommends using the Windows System Image Manager included in the Windows AIK when creating or modifying a configuration XML file.

  5. Save a copy of the HP-provided Build Plan, changing its name to better reflect the language to be installed.

  6. Edit the Build Plan copy.

  7. Select for the Create Windows xxxx Standard Default Unattend.xml step that will be replaced.

  8. Select the new configuration file you created to replace the default file. Any parameters associated with the original configuration file are preserved.

  9. Modify the step that runs setup.exe and change the parameter of that step to the new location on the Media Server where you put the new distribution.
