Select servers and OS Build Plans

You can either select an OS Build Plan and then the server to provision or you can select servers and then choose the OS Build Plans to use:

Select an OS Build Plan and then select the servers to provision

Follow these steps to select an OSBP and the servers to provision. See Run an OS Build Plan for details.

  1. Before beginning, verify the target servers have met the prerequisites as described in Make sure a target server is ready for an OS Build Plan.

  2. Select OS Build Plan from the main menu.

  3. From the master pane list of Build Plans, select the OS Build Plan you want to run.

  4. Select ActionsRun OS Build Plan. The Run OS Build Plans screen is displayed, populated with the OS Build Plan you selected.

  5. You can run additional OS Build Plans along with the one you selected on the OS Build Plan screen by selecting Add under OS Build Plans. In the pop-up window type directly in the field or select to search through the list of available Build Plans. And select Add or Add+ to add one or more OS Build Plans to be run on the servers you select. You can also reorder the list of selected Build Plans.

  6. Under Servers select Add to select servers to be provisioned with this Build Plan or set of OS Build Plans. In the Add servers pop-up window select a listed server or use the browse box to find available servers. And select Add or Add+ to add one or more servers to run the selected Build Plans on.

  7. If running a set of OS Build Plans, then under Job Information you can specify a name for the set of Build Plans.

  8. Also under Job Information you can select a Schedule option to either run the job or set of jobs Now or in the future.

  9. You may opt to configure the target server networking at this point by checking the Configure check box under Static Network. See Configure static networking information and change host name for details.

  10. If you are running a set of several OS Build Plans then select what type of failure response you want if there are any failures in executing the OS Build Plans.

  11. Select OK to launch the job or select Cancel to return to the previous screen. You will be asked to verify launching the job if you select OK.

  12. Once the job has been launched, you will be taken to the Jobs screen with the newly created job highlighted. You may monitor the job from there or continue working.

Select servers and then choose the OS Build Plan to use

Follow these steps to select servers and then choose the OS Build Plan to use. See Run an OS Build Plan for details.

  1. Before beginning, verify the target servers have met the prerequisites as described in Make sure a target server is ready for an OS Build Plan.

  2. Start at the Servers screen (select Servers from the main menu).

  3. Select target servers from the master pane list of servers. You can use Ctrl+left click or Shift+left click to select multiple servers.

    Or you could select a Device Group (select Device Groups from the main menu), which contains a group of servers, and select Run OS Build Plans to run a Build Plan for the servers in the device group.

  4. Select ActionsRun OS Build Plan. The Run OS Build Plans screen is displayed, populated with the servers you selected.

  5. Under OS Build Plans select Add to select the OS Build Plans to run on these servers. In the pop-up window type directly in the field or select to search through the list of available Build Plans. And select Add or Add+ to add one or more OS Build Plans to be run on the servers you selected.

  6. At this point you may add more servers by selecting Add under the Servers section and you may remove target servers by selecting on the server row. In the Add servers pop-up window select a listed server or use the browse box to find available servers. And select Add or Add+ to add one or more servers to run the selected Build Plans on.

  7. If running a set of OS Build Plans, then under Job Information you can specify a name for the set of Build Plans.

  8. Also under Job Information you can select a Schedule option to either run the job or set of jobs Now or in the future.
