Two-slot PCI riser cage assembly option

This two-slot PCI riser cage option allows the installation of full-height, half-length PCIe3 x8 expansion boards in the primary PCIe riser location.

CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all PCI slots have either an expansion slot cover or an expansion board installed.

To install the component:

1. Power down the server.
2. Remove all power:
   1. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
   2. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
   • Extend the server from the rack.
   • Remove the server from the rack.
4. Remove the access panel.
5. Remove the air baffle.
6. Remove the onboard PCIe3 x16 slot 1 cover.

   

7. Remove the primary PCI riser cage blank.

   

8. Install the PCI air baffle.

   

9. Install the two-slot PCI riser cage.

   

10. Remove the fan blank from fan bay 1.

    

11. Install the fan in fan bay 1.

    

12. Install the air baffle.
13. Install the access panel.
14. Do one of the following:
    • Slide the server into the rack.
    • Install the server into the rack.
15. Power up the server.
