Symptom

HP SUM binary could not be executed.

This alert is new starting with HPE OneView 4.0.

Cause

  • SUM binary does not exist in the staging location.

  • SUM binary does not have the execute permissions.

  • SUM encountered a failure during execution.

Action
  1. Do one of the following:

    • For offline updates, check the Firmware update inventory report to verify which component failed.

    • For online updates, verify that the SUM binaries are available in the staging directory with execute permissions.

  2. Clear the following directories:

    • %localappdata%\\sut\\sum and %systemdrive%\\Windows\\Temp\\sut\\sum (Windows)

    • /var/tmp/sut/sum (Linux)

  3. Retry the operation.
  4. If the issue persists, contact a support specialist and provide them with a support dump file.
