3146-Device Encryption Error

Symptom

3146-Device Encryption Error: Modifying passphrase for Processor X DIMM Y has failed.

Cause

Modifying the passphrase for the identified self-encrypting device failed due to encryption logic.

Action
  1. Retry modifying the passphrase:
    1. From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Server Security > Device Encryption Options > Device Encryption Settings > Encrypted Devices.
    2. Make the following selections:
      • Select Device—Select the HPE Persistent Memory module.
      • Select OperationModify Passphrase.
    3. Passphrase Type:

This selection is only available when Local Key Management is enabled. When Remote Key Management is enabled, HPE Persistent Memory module passphrases are automatically generated, stored, and managed on the key management server.

      • Auto—The system automatically generates a 32 byte random passphrase. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends using system-generated passphrases as a best practice.

      • Manual—Enter a 32 byte passphrase manually.

    4. Select Start Operation.
  2. If the issue persists, open a support case using the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center website (https://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc).
