Removing a midplane assembly
IMPORTANT:
All components must be removed to service the midplane assembly.
Procedure
- Power down the server.
- Disconnect the power cables from the power supplies on the rear of the chassis.
- Disconnect all cables that are connected to the ports on the rear of the chassis.

Remove the following components:
- Servers (Remove the server from the chassis)
- Power supplies (Removing and replacing a power supply)
- System fans (Removing and replacing the system fan)
- I/O module (Removing and replacing the I/O module)
- Management module (Removing and replacing the management module)
- Remove the chassis from the rack.
- Place the chassis on a flat, sturdy surface to support the chassis.
- Remove the midplane assembly cover (Removing a midplane assembly cover).

Disconnect the four drive data cables that connect to the midplane.

Disconnect the two fan cables that connect to the midplane.
For fan cabling information, see Fan cabling.

Remove the midplane assembly from the
chassis:
- Remove the two screws on the sides of the chassis.
- Lift the assembly straight up.
