Installing the accelerator in a five-slot secondary riser cage
Servers 1 and 3 have identical configuration. Once the five-slot secondary riser is installed, the same front end is used for each chassis, regardless of the card type in slots 3–6. Slots 3–6 must always be populated. Two or four GPU cards per riser are supported. When installing two GPU cards per riser, the GPU card must be populated in slot 4 and 6. Install the other option cards in slot 3 and 5.
This server does not support mixing different graphics accelerators models. Attempting to do so can cause the server to halt during BIOS initialization. All graphics accelerators installed in the server must be of the same model.
Some accelerator models are subject to thermal limitations depending on the chassis model and the fan configuration. In these cases, it is necessary to remove some installed drives and replace them with thermal bezel blanks or drive blanks. Perform this blank installation before installing the accelerator.
