Installing an SFF drive

To install SFF drives in the drive bays, install the SFF drive converter option. In general, SFF drives give greater power and space savings. SFF drives can require as little as half the power and generate significantly less heat than LFF drives.

Procedure
  1. Power down the server.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the AC source, and then from the server.
  3. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
  4. Remove the front bezel.
  5. Install the SFF drive.
  6. Install the front bezel.
  7. Connect all peripheral cables to the server.
  8. Connect the power cord to the server power jack, and then to the AC source.
  9. Power up the server.
  10. Determine the status of the server drives from the drive LED definitions.
