Installing an energy pack

The server supports two Smart Storage batteries or one HPE Smart Storage Hybrid Capacitor.

NOTE:

This server does not support mixing of HPE Smart Storage batteries and the HPE Smart Storage Hybrid Capacitor.

Prerequisites

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following items available:

  • T-10 Torx screwdriver

  6. Install the energy pack.
  7. Route and connect the energy pack cable.
    • To provide backup power to the DIMM slots and controllers installed on the system board, connect the energy pack cable to connector 1 (orange).

      NOTE:

The HPE Smart Storage Hybrid Capacitor can only be installed in energy pack connector 1. This server does not support the HPE Smart Storage Hybrid capacitor in energy pack connector 2.

    • To provide backup power to the DIMM slots on the processor mezzanine tray, connect the energy pack cable to connector 2 (blue).

    IMPORTANT:
To enable SmartCache or CacheCade in a P-class type-p Smart Array controller, you must:
    • Connect the controller backup power cable to the controller backup power connector on the system or riser board.
