Installing the M.2 SSD enablement board

  1. Power down the server.
  2. Remove all power:
    1. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
    2. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
  3. Remove the server from the rack.
  4. Remove the access panel.
  5. Remove the air baffle.
  6. To install the M.2 SSD enablement board in the onboard expansion slots, do the following:
    1. Remove the full-height bracket from the M.2 SSD enablement board.
    2. Install the low-profile bracket on the M.2 SSD enablement board.
    3. Remove the onboard PCI expansion slot cover.
    4. Install the M.2 SSD enablement board. Verify that the board is firmly seated in the slot.

    5. Open the cable management holder.
    6. Connect the SATA cables to the M.2 SSD enablement board and the system board.
    7. Close the cable management holder.
    8. Secure the extra length of the SATA cables in the cable management holder.

  7. To install the M.2 SSD enablement board in the PCI riser cage, do the following:
    1. Remove the PCI riser cage.
    2. Remove the riser slot cover.

    3. Install the M.2 SSD enablement board. Verify that the board is firmly seated in the slot.

    4. Install the PCI riser cage.
    5. Open the cable management holder.
    6. Connect the SATA cables to the M.2 SSD enablement board and the system board.
    7. Close the cable management holder.
    8. Secure the extra length of the SATA cables in the cable management holder.

  8. Install the air baffle.
  9. Install the access panel.
  10. Install the server into the rack.
  11. Power up the server.
