Removing and replacing chassis ears

Prerequisites

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have a T-10 Torx screwdriver available.

Procedure

Power down the server.
Remove all power:
1. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
2. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
Do one of the following:
- Extend the server from the rack.
- Remove the server from the rack.
Remove the access panel.
Remove the air baffle.
Remove the right chassis ear assembly.
1. Release the front I/O cabling from the server:
  - Detach the ambient thermal sensor cable from its clip.
  - Disconnect the USB 3.0 cable.
  - Disconnect the front I/O assembly cable.
2. Remove the cable cover.
3. Release cables from the chassis compartment.
4. Remove the right ear with all the cables.
  The cables include thermal sensor cable, front I/O cable, and USB 3.0 cable.
Remove the left chassis ear.

To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
